President Sandoval issued a letter of support for the South Works Quantum Campus which was up for review at the Chicago Plan Commission. Sandoval, a former resident of South Chicago grew up one block from the old South Works project and above and beyond his connection to the storied site, serves on the board of a Charter School in the neighborhood focused on STEM education. The location would economically transform the community which has struggled since the steel mill closed in the early 90s.
“The South works Quantum Park is not just a concept, it's a catalyst for innovation that will drive meaningful change across multiple industries, from healthcare and manufacturing to energy and communications. “ Said Sandoval, “While my career has taken me far from South Chicago, I hold that passion, resolve and grit that my father and his generation instilled in me, that our community instilled in me, and I know that with this project it will transform lives for generations. Please give them that opportunity. “
The plan was approved for review by the City Council’s Zoning Committee
