In the wake of a new Congress and anticipated changes in political agenda, employers should be putting an additional focus on mitigating risk of worker misclassification. It is not as simple as deciding whether a worker is a salaried or hourly employee, or a contractor.During this webinar, Michael Best & Friedrich LLP attorneys Ben Johnson and Michael Chropowicz will offer a refresher on what to look for when deciding whether employees are exempt or non-exempt from overtime and other wage rules, including the most recent updates on changes to federal and state law. They will offer insights into the current litigation environment and key watch-out points in the areas regulators and plaintiffs’ attorneys are focusing on. In addition, they will touch on other worker pay and misclassification hot-button topics, such as the use of contractor arrangements, the rise of employee reimbursement claims, and hybrid employment scenarios. Our goal is that you walk away with action items and best practices to evaluate risk and mitigate your company’s exposure.
