IL STATE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE:Statement from Illinois Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Todd Maisch on CREATE, key Chicago rail project

IL State Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 5. “We applaud the vital support of the Chicago Region Environment and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) Program and Illinois’ transportation and infrastructure system as a whole, which is crucial to our state’s economy. The federal award from the U.S. Department of Transportation that grants $132 million to the 75th St. Corridor Improvement Project recognizes the importance of the Chicago region and Illinois to our nation’s economy.

Rauner signs budget minus reforms

Governor Bruce Rauner signed a state budget for the first time in his three-and-a-half year long political career Monday. The incumbent Republican, who is running for re-election in November, calls the $38.5 billion spending plan a true bipartisan compromise and a “good day for the people of Illinois.” But one thing noticeably left off the negotiation table this year was his “turn around agenda,” a list of business and economic reforms he once campaigned on.

Since 1955, Skender has been a family-owned business based in Illinois. Located in Chicago, Skender focuses on design, construction and manufacturing projects. “I was born and raised in Illinois,” says Mark Skender, Chief Executive Officer. “My father started the business in Chicago and it was just natural that as we expanded the business, Illinois would be our location. A lot of it is based on family history.”

Skender has broadened beyond its original construction groundwork to include start-to-finish projects in construction, design and building component manufacturing functions.
