Infrastructure Council

The Infrastructure Council focuses on public systems that are essential to Illinois business: roads and bridges, railways (freight and public transit), shipping via waterways, and airports. The Council is seeking new members to initiate efforts for water supply and treatment, utilities, pipelines, power generation, power distribution systems and communications networks. All of these systems impact the civic, social and economic future of the people and employers of Illinois.

Currently there are four Issue Committees to address pending and emerging issues

  • Roads, Bridges & Airports
  • Waterways
  • Clean Water

Overview

  • Provides highway/transit authorizations for the remaining 2 months of FY12 plus for all of FY13 and 14.  (Getting here took 10 SFETEA-LU extensions.)  Also provides authorizations for NHTSA highway safety, motor carrier safety and some miscellaneous programs.  Does not provide any rail authorizations.>>>More
