West Chicago — State Rep. Mike Fortner (R-West Chicago) has been awarded the Champion of Free Enterprise by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce for his defense of free enterprise and the furtherance of economic opportunities for Illinois. Fortner was also recently named the Guardian of Small Business by the National Federation of Independent Business, sweeping both major pro-business legislative awards for the 97th General Assembly.
“I am honored to receive both these prestigious awards,” said Fortner. “We need more jobs in Illinois, and by supporting measures to help business, business can create more jobs.”
Rep. Fortner voted with the Illinois Chamber of Commerce on 87% of Chamber supported bills. The Champion of Free Enterprise is awarded to legislators with an 85% rate or higher.
Chamber initiatives for the 97th General Assembly included workers’ compensation, independent tax review, environmental permitting and regulation, procurement reform, pipeline construction, healthcare overhaul implementation, and employment law.
