Webinar taught by attorney Jeff Risch will focus on ways to respond to Illinois Department of Human Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The Illinois Chamber of Commerce worked with the Illinois State Bar Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association to develop a new law that streamlines the employment discrimination process for individuals bringing charges of employment discrimination and employers defending against charges of employment discrimination in Illinois.
In 2011, the U.S. Chamber ranked Illinois as a “poor” state in regards to its employment laws for Illinois employers and cited the state’s employment discrimination laws as one of the reasons for the low ranking. In this light, the Illinois Chamber (along with SmithAmundsen’s Labor & Employment Law Group), identified problems whereby employers doing business in Illinois would 1) be forced to defend against dual investigations conducted by both the IDHR and the EEOC and/or 2) be forced to attend an IDHR Fact Finding Conference in matters that did not necessitate such participation.
This 90-minute webinar will provide attendees a thorough review of the complex procedure that encompasses responding to an IDHR and/or EEOC charge in light of new procedural and substantive law changes— and specifically, how to take advantage of the changes to the greatest extent possible. Attendees will also benefit from having a deeper and more meaningful understanding of new IDHR and/or EEOC administrative techniques and investigative procedures.
