Beginning January 1, 2014, individuals and small employers (50 employees or less) in Illinois will be able to purchase health insurance coverage in a new supplemental marketplace called the health benefits exchange, as authorized by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The goal of the ACA is to reduce the number of uninsured and underinsured and the health benefits exchange offers a mechanism by which individuals and small employers can shop for coverage more efficiently and hopefully more cost-effectively.
The new health benefits exchange and the coinciding coverage changes and penalties that will take effect in 2014 will have a tremendous impact on employers and the health coverage landscape in the years ahead.
This webinar will cover the following topics:
* The basics of an Exchange: what is it and how will it impact employers
*Employer/employee eligibility on the Exchange
* Application and breakdown of employer penalties and tax credits
* Operation of the Exchange and health benefit plans available
* Key decision points for states
* Legislative & regulatory updates related to the Exchange
* Other challenges and navigational issues for employers: what do employers need to watch for in the coming months and years![]()
