Illinois is the 5th largest exporter of goods in the nation selling $66.1 billion of goods to 219 countries across the globe. In all, trade supports 1.6 million jobs in our state and is the single fastest growing segment of our economy. Illinois can benefit greatly from the expansion of trade but actions such as failing to reauthrozie Ex-Im threaten Illinois’ recovery and future economic health.
To date 369 Illinois employers and thousands of employees have benefitted directly from Ex-Im support with nearly $7 billion in total export value. Without Ex-Im reauthorization they will be at risk. The vast majority of these companies are small and medium sized businesses that come from every corner of our state and include manufacturers, agriculure, and business services. ____________________________________________________________________________________
