The total project investment will be more than $130 million dollars and will create 250 construction jobs over the next year with 50 full time jobs once the center is operational. The BioEnergy Center will be the first commercial scale facility employing the INEOS Bio Bioenergy technology. The project broke ground in February 2011 and is targeted for completion and start-up in Q2 2012.

The Center for Renewable Energy at Illinois State University is a research and public service unit formally recognized by the State of Illinois. It was approved by the Illinois State University Board of Trustees in November, 2007 and by the Illinois Board of Higher Education in August, 2008.
